Bryan Fish, US Ski Team Coach is making a stop in Green Bay on his way to the European Campaign to excite our ski community with a coaches ski technique clinic and a “Fire up for skiing” type of presentation on Sunday October 30, 2011.
The coaches clinic will start at 1:30 pm and be approximately 2 hours in length and will be free of charge. The focus audience is on the active Coaches in the NE Wisconsin area including Wisconsin High School Nordic Ski League (WHSNSL) coaches. This event is organized with Bryan by the Ashwaubenon Nordic Ski Team and our local youth ski group, Bay Nordic.
The clinic will focus on proper positions, mechanics and motions and go through drills and exercises on dryland and on rollerskis. The clinic unlocks some of the mystery of Nordic ski technique and how to effectively teach technique. All local coaches (and would be coaches!) are encouraged to attend.
“This clinic is a very powerful way to make a step change in the skiers you coach and your own skiing. After all, our young skiers copy our technique so solid ski technique by our area coaches translates into better/faster junior skiers and more fun for all involved. If you coach or are thinking of coaching come out to this clinic to get on the same page (or at least open the book!).”
Scott Putman, Ashwaubenon Nordic Ski Team Coach
In addition to the clinic, Bryan will give a “Fire up for the ski season” presentation at 11:40 in the ski lodge. Expect to feel some of the excitement associated with USST, continental and European skiing and as the excitement and tension builds for the first races of the season in Sweden. We certainly felt some of that excitement in person when the ‘Internationals’ stormed our Stump Farm Ski race last year!
