The team wants to get as many kids involved in nordic skiing as possible. So, we make it really easy to get started. The team provides new skiers with all the gear needed to get started from our fleet of skis, poles and boots for both skating and classic skiing. We also provide roller skis for the fall season before the snow flies.
What we expect of our skiers is first to purchase all the necessary clothing to enjoy winter sports. This includes a variety of light weight, water wicking under garments and tops, gloves, hats, running shoes, a bike helmet for the fall and warm changes of clothes for after practice. We will help you learn what sorts of cloths work best, but think multiple layers that can easily be added or removed, even on the trail. You will also want to purchase water bottles and carriers suitable for running and skiing. You may have to think through how you will carry skis in your car: strapping unprotected on the roof won’t do! You will be assigned skis for the winter and be expected to transport them and poles to practices.
After the first year, we expect you to start purchasing your own gear. See the expectations page for more information on this.
